Theology of the Child Children are God’s greatest gift to the world. Every day, thousands of millions of children have been neglected not just by their parents, but also by his or her community. Since the beginning of Genesis time, children have always played an important part of humanity. The countless scriptures provided in the Bible give a clear example about the significance of children. God’s outlook of children in the Bible extends evidential scriptural truth of God’s role in our life as a parent. God’s View of Children in the OT At the beginning of time, children were the key point to God’s plan for us, specifically for Him. Genesis 1:27 said, â€Å"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male†¦show more content†¦This is where God first showed His love and compassion for the orphaned in Genesis 21:17-18: â€Å"God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, â€Å"What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.† He kept His promise to Abraham that He will bless Ishmael and make him into a prominent nation. God loves the orphans, aliens, and the widows, the defenseless ones we fail to look after and acknowledge. He even says so in Deuteronomy 10:18, â€Å"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.† Those that may seem like they have nothing will always have God on their side. Even if the orphan may not have anyone to instruct the child in the right way, every person is responsible to be help each other out so that no one would wander off the wrong route. Single mother or father should always â€Å"start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it,† as told by God in Proverb 22:6. Children are to to keep the family generation going. This is one of the numerous reasons why God has blessed so many great men in the Old Testament with an abundant of sons and daughters, which is to extend His kingdom. God his blessed the human population
